Der Hexenstein von Thalasso ("The Witchstone of Thalasso") is the 389th issue of Spuk Geschichten ("Haunted Stories"), a German comic anthology series primarily following the exploits of the 17th century demon hunter Arsat.
Description
In the eponymous main story, Arsat, Carmilla and Gino travel to a friend of Carmilla, a blind woman with magical abilities, Salina. Arriving they find Salina´s house in disarray and her stabbed to death. Following the tracks of the murderer they are suprised by a rainstorm and have to seek shelter in a tavern.
When Carmilla leaves the inn for a breath of fresh air after the storn a brutish man confronts her. Trying to woo her he offers her a piece of jewelry for her favor, a piece which she recognises as belong to Salina. When she calls him out on it he handgags her and tries to stab her. Before he is able to do so a mist arises, engulfing him and reducing him to a skeleton. As Carmilla tells Arsat (and the other people arriving to see what the ruckus was about) what happened two other men make their escape by horse. Arsat, Carmilla and Gino follow them on their horses.
They arrive at a ruined castle, seeing the horses alone in the ruins Arsat suspects a trap. Leaving Carmilla and Gino behind he enters the ruins. Once he has left both Carmilla and Gino are overwhelmed by the two men, who bind and gag them, driving the two before them. A bit later Arsat enters a hall, only to find Carmilla and Gino bound to pillars and gagged. As he moves forward to free them the two man emerge from the shadows, pistols drawn. Before anything can happen the mist appears again, killing one of the men while the other tries to escape.
