Der Flammenreiter ("The Flamerider") is the 62nd issue of Spuk Geschichten ("Haunted Stories"), a German comic anthology series primarily following the exploits of the 17th century demon hunter Arsat.
Description
In the eponymous main story, Arsat and Gino are staying in the english town of Salisbury, when they notice that the people act like hypnotised. When a man accompanied by two mishappen drummers appear and leads the charmed people of Salisbury out into the wilderness, Arsat and Gino, unaffected by the drum´s magic droning decide to follow them, acting like they are charmed too. The man leads the people to stonehenge, where he binds a woman from the crowd to the altar, offering her to the Demon Astaroth as a bride, who promptly appears.
In the story "Im Rittersaal des Grauens" ("In the Great Hall of Terror") an impoverished king sends out a knight on a quest to retrieve the Philosopher's stone, which can turn anything into gold. The knight sets out, coming upon a band of barbarian raiders who have kidnapped a woman.
